Ms Yuen, who graduated a month ago, opted for a two-month internship with an events company even though she had two full-time job offers.

Ahmedabad: From March 2010, student internships will not remain a privilege of students of medicine, technology and management alone.
The state’s Department of Higher Education plans to introduce an internship scheme for final-year students of degree courses in five faculties – Science, Arts, Commerce, Law andEducation.
The scheme, which will offer internships of one or two months to selected students at different institutes of excellence, will be available to students of all government-aided universities of the state.
Sources in the higher education department said that the selected students will get a chance to serve as interns at various institutes. [Full Story]
Like many of the Class of 2009, School of Journalism senior Michael Sanserino is headed to an internship this summer instead of a fulltime job.
“I applied to seven newspapers in October just for internships,” said Sanserino, who will work at The Wall Street Journal in San Francisco this summer. His early start paid off. After a phone interview in November, he was offered the internship.[Full Story]
Benjamin Wood Evans, a 23-year-old British law student, dreamed of being an international lawyer who could speak fluent Mandarin to his Chinese clients one day.
